Ever say you’re going to do something with good intentions of doing it, and may get started but don’t follow through? OR… not even get started at all?!?! Well, that’s what’s called not keeping your word…. whether to someone else, or to yourself.
Recently, I’ve gained a “new” perspective on life. It’s called death. Ever really truly think, (like feel it within your bones, kinda think) that this may be your last day here alive? Yeah, I don’t do that on a daily basis either, but it does cross my mind occasionally. Sounds pretty gruesome, but in reality, it’s going to happen to us all one day.
We’ve just had another death in our family. And I think, as we get older, things like this seem to affect us even more. I was really catapulted into this 5 years ago when my father passed. My intellectual mind knows the steps, but it isn’t until you really feel and experience something in your bones (or gut) that you truly understand the wisdom it brings.
Recently with the culmination of this and several other events, I made a commitment: To start keeping my own word to and for myself. And, to be urgent about it. I keep saying I’m going to, or wanting to, do this and that. Yet, I have my “reasons”, or stories about it. Life is NOW. Life is URGENT. I hear that the Buddhist have a death meditation, which I find quite interesting. If every day, we realize that this truly could possibly be our last day alive, what would we do? How would we be?
One of the things I put off for years, is blogging. So that’s why I’m writing this. I just happen to come across this YouTube video that I think explains one reason I haven’t followed through.
By recognizing how precious and short life really is, we are more likely to make it meaningful and to live it fully. That’s what I want, deep in my heart, to have a meaningful and fulfilled life. And that’s what I truly want for each and every one of you. Imagine what life would be like, if we all lived this way!
I’d also like to share this video with you that has had an impact on me as well, about living a fulfilled life. It’s Marie Forleo’s weekly TV episode: What is the Meaning of Life: 3 Keys To Lasting Fulfillment.
Appreciate you for taking the time to read this! Hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to leave any thoughts or comments.
Take care!
